Summary: In his own way, Soul has a lot of hang-ups about his place in the family. This takes place after he’s been inducted into the mafia family, he’s fifteen here.
Nicky fussed with his youngest son’s suit collar then smoothed out the shoulders. “Take a look.”
Soul did as he was told and stepped up to the multi-paneled mirror at the back of the tailors that made suits exclusively for the Blaze Family. Soul didn’t really know what reaction his father was expecting from him. It was just a suit, after all.
Nicky clapped Soul’s shoulder and grinned at him in the mirror. “You look sharp, son. Just like one of us.”
Soul blinked as his father’s words struck a chord deep inside him and it all made sense. He looked at the mirror again, and this time he didn’t see Soul Mantegna, he saw a Blaze.
Soul’s lips quirked upwards. “Can I get a hat too?”
