The flames sizzled, stretching higher as they slowly crept up the walls.
“You are running out of time, child.”
“I am not a child.”
She smiled, making sure to show every tooth. “You’re in a smoke and fire filled basement.”
He coughed, scowling up at her. “I can handle a little bit of fire.”
She laughed. “A little bit of fire? Why, dear William, you’re perspiring.” She watched him look down at the two unconscious teens at his side. “It’s time for me to go. Enjoy burning to death.”
“This is not the end.”
Smirking, she swept out the door.
