Notes: Good grief, I never write the modern pirates. So have some! Cherry for first person. The PFAH was too perfect to resist; Cooper : Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!


I’m not sure where I am. This bastard ship came out of bloody nowhere, tore my little sloop to bits and wrecked a fair amount of others, too. It’s dark and I’m strapped to a chair like something out of a damn film. My chest-it feels... wrong, like I’m strapped around there too, though I’m not. All those ships blowing up. And for what?

It’s Newson, I’d bet anything it’s Newson.

The door opens and the light clicks on. Flicking my head back to get hair out of my eyes, I look up and watch as this lady in a damn business suit comes strolling in. Her hair’s tied tight as wire and she’s wearing black tights and high heels on a ship. This is getting weirder and weirder, but I assume she’s here to give me some information.

“Where’s Fran?” is the first thing out of my mouth, just like that. He’d better be OK, or I’ll... well, he’d just better be OK.

The lady folds her arms and gives me the scariest smile I’ve ever seen. And that’s when I realise I am so, so wrong.

“I’m not here to answer your questions,” she says, leaning forwards. Her lips are purple and is it just the light or does she have fangs? Nah, it’s just the light, but still... she looks like something out of a horror movie, no matter how neatly her blouse has been tucked in and how shiny her shoes are. Her next words are nothing more than a whisper: “You’re here to answer mine. Let’s get this over with, shall we? I have things to do.”

Oh, shit.
