Notes: ...this sounds weird, like a prophecy in reverse.
Every Blackledge knew of the Twenty-Two, but they never told any non-Blackledge what it meant. Some people didn’t want to know. But one day of every year, the Blackledge Children-now grown up-would remember.
They remembered well.
Fifteen, five and two, they said: fifteen Fire-Bringers, five Rememberers and then the Two. Nobody knew who the Two were, the Two that added to the Twenty, but everyone knew who the others were.
But of course, they would never tell. Because there was a divide, invisible but true, a Them and an Us, and Blackledges were Blackledges and people didn’t understand.
