I’m sure you know that more than a few people have been wondering why you chose Cherry Cherry Boom Boom as your stage name. Would you mind elaborating on that a bit?

[Cherry laughs, and takes a moment to twist her hair up and secure it with a pencil that she’s been fidgeting with since we started talking. Silently, she turns her head and points to a birthmark under her neck. It’s in the distinctive shape of a strawberry.]

My manager, Faith. We’ve known each other since we were seven, and she saw this one day, when we were little. She was convinced it was a cherry until one of my daddies told her it wasn’t. I don’t even remember who it exactly was that corrected her, but it’s stuck. She called me Cherry ever since then. I didn’t get the idea for Cherry Cherry Boom Boom until after I was doing my first gigs, with my own music. Before that, it was just Chloe. But, I was at my aunt Sarah’s house, and we were listening to old Gaga songs. ‘Starstruck’ came on, and that was all it took.

[Here, Cherry starts to sing, head nodding from side to side with some beat that only she can hear.]

Gaga, in the room. So starstruck, cherry cherry cherry cherry, boom boom.

[Again, she laughs.]

After that, it was nothing else. I was Cherry professionally, and nothing was going to change it.
