Summary: The Morning After the Night Before - Rachel and Dean
Rachel sat at the kitchen table with a cup of hot chocolate in front of her, courtesy of Dean. He was in a moany mood this morning. He seemed to think he was justified but he wasn’t at all. She didn’t ask him and Simon to come pick her up last night. In fact, she would have been perfectly happy if they hadn’t. She was having fun.
Dean was still talking medical mumbo-jumbo. According to him, her brief exposure to the cold last night could have resulted in all sorts of health issues and possibly even death. He was exaggerating. Showing off his medical knowledge.
Dean looked at Rachel like a child. They all did. Of course, she was younger than them, but not hugely so. Her personality often widened the gap though. She kept the mindset of a child in order to shield herself from painful things. As far as Dean was concerned, she shouldn’t have been at the party. She especially shouldn’t have gone alone. Her innocent and trusting nature could easily lead her into situations she didn’t want to be in.
“Chill out, Dean. Just because the guys of this house want to stay at home and be boring doesn’t mean the girls have to.”
“Yeah, really looked like Kate had fun.” He said sarcastically. Dean still wasn’t exactly sure what had happened with Kate last night. It was still early and only he and Rachel seemed to be up. “And after what happened yesterday with her mum, I can’t blame Liz for not wanting to go out.”
“Well, I guess something must have changed her mind then.”
Dean looked at Rachel confused.
“You didn’t know? She didn’t come home at all last night.”
No, Dean did not know that. He hadn’t even been aware that Lizzie had gone anywhere last night.
