The first true monster outbreak destroyed the newly-resettled town of Beijing overnight.
Reports conflicted. Some said many shadow-like beasts, solid but black as the moonless night itself, slithered in and flitted through the streets, here, there, gone; only to materialize while pouncing on their victims.
Other witnesses insisted it was one monster, tall as the high-rises that touched the sky there years before. Glimpses of a massive, formless darkness with rows of needle-teeth that rose over Beijing and crashed down, like a wave upon the helpless shore, engulfing the town and its inhabitants in night forever.
