Christmas arrived three weeks early because I gave your father his first gift of the season: Just Dance 3. Okay, it’s a little present for both of us. Dancing’s always been important for me and your Dad ever since…forever. Dad’s a rare guy who isn’t afraid to get on any floor to work out his inner groove monkey. About your mother…well, she did a lot of ballet/jazz/tap, joined a freedance troupe in high school, but I was never going to be fantastic like your aunt (Allyson can move in ways that make a lesser person…me…freaking envious). That doesn’t mean I won’t indulge sudden urges to move along with some cool music. Just because I never received the graceful gene has never stopped me from dancing whenever/wherever the occasion.

Back in Yon Old Days (AKA, “during college”), your father and I used to drive around to different Chuck E. Cheese’s just for the Dance Dance Revolution machines. We did competitions against each other and strangers because it was awesome. (Bringing your aunt got me defeated in public, to “Hot Stuff”…yeah, disco, which is probably huge again when you read this entry). Dancing on a rooftop, fuelled by rainbow drinks, was the best method for your father to get past my “not interested, just bored” front on the night we met…

You should watch your creaky old parents’ wedding vid. We had a massive dance game set-up at the reception (don’t judge us! We needed something to combat against diving into more “traditional” reception stuff…like anything to do with garters, which is just gross). A bunch of happily-infused-with-spirits party people wobbling along to a bunch of animated dancers on a giant screen is funny and great!

Well, that’s enough rambling for now. I’m going to pop the game into Dad’s Xbox and shake away my jelly butt, maybe get rid of some odd post-baby moodiness…getting to smoke your father on the advanced level would really help…
