As usual, their study date had gotten off track, and it was less textbooks and more gasps and moans and wandering hands. Oz had pushed Jakob into one of the many dark corners or the bedroom/basement, and it hadn’t been long before clothes were missing or just pushed out of the way. Jakob’s legs had been wrapped around his waist, and the room was filled with soft, pleasured sounds, and they had no thought of the rest of the world around them.
It was only dumb luck that they weren’t caught.
They had been tucked into a corner right underneath the stairway when the door opened and Jakob’s mother walked in. She had been saying something in German, most likely to Jakob’s father, and that had to have been the only reason she didn’t immediately hear them. They froze. Oz quickly raised a hand to cover Jakob’s mouth and barely breathed as the woman above them switched to English.
“Jakob? ...Jakob, are you down here?”
All she would need to do is look straight down, over the stair railing, and see them. There was no way for them to move and adjust themselves into a normal state of dress without her hearing. Jakob stared at Oz with wide eyes, and Oz could feel Jakob’s lips moving under his hand in a silent prayer. Oh, God, please don’t look down.
“He must be out, Josef. Do you see a note anywhere?” They felt more than heard her leave the room, and the tension left them as the door shut.
Oz let his hand drop as he let out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding. A chuckle escaped from his lips as Jakob let his head fall against Oz’s shoulder, and soon they were both wrapped around each other and trying to keep their laughter from getting too loud.
