It’s Saturday; Jonathan’s not here. I’m alone and lounging on the sofa with a book when there’s a sharp knock at the door.
I don’t recognise the person at the door; he smiles up at me and raises an arm that’s nothing more than a wing. I can’t resist: “Hallowe’en was yesterday.”
“You know Ioann, don’t you?”
Remember yesterday? “No-o.” Where’s this going?
He stands on his tip-toes and presses his lips to mine. What?! I don’t-
Seconds later, he breaks off the kiss. “Pass that on to him for me,” he winks, then turns and leaves.
