Lunavision

It was a nargle in the mistletoe that helped her see what was going on.  She was too caught up in the tiny creature to pay attention to her dance partner.  Then she caught sight of him out of the corner of her eye.  He was looking lovesick and staring at another of the party guests.  She knew what it was like to look in from outside, so she pitied him for wanting someone else’s girlfriend.  Then she noticed as the girl surreptitiously looked back at him.  Oh, so it was like that, then.  Smiling to herself, she turned away.

Entry to the Slug Club

Done this way, a hex could be very useful.  Oh, there were any number of ways you could stand up to someone, but having a reputation for a thumping good hex was one of the best.  That way you could just cock your eyebrow at anyone, they would cower in a gibbering mess, and you didn’t even have to do anything.  Of course, times like this required you to actually carry through.  That wasn’t a problem; she’d been itching to hex Zacharias Smith since the DA last year.  That’s for Harry, she thought as she pointed her wand at him.

Leaving

Step away.  It sounded so easy in his head.  Step away.  Just take one step and then another and soon you’ll be gone.  But it was hard, too hard, to turn away from the clear eyes looking at him with such understanding.  He took one last look at her, taking his fill of her comforting presence, before he finally dragged himself around and made himself move away from her.  It was the right thing to do, and now she would be safe.  But it was hard to make himself place one foot in front of the other, leaving her behind.
