Oh, this was really bittersweet, poor Rory. I love the way you portrayed his displeasure at the Romans' showy antics (I giggled at his poor opinion of the emperors XD) and his unease at the whole expedition. And then, in the end, his fears proved founded. I particularly love his guilt and moral struggle with the idea of turning his back on the men who had been his companions and the empire he had spent so long in already, it's especially harsh with all the deaths, of course. Yet all that mattered was Amy and his own thoughts and feelings all came secondary to that, he had to fulfill his mission and it was his only true commitment. And of course I also like how he'd gotten used to the box being in Roman hands, and how daunting the change seemed, though he rationally knew it would be coming eventually and there was no reason it would cause much more danger. Still, he just had no idea what was ahead and that *would* be very distressing, as we know ;)
Can't wait to see how it turns out from there! Lovely job :)
Thank you for this gorgeous comment! I really enjoyed this one. I am at a point where I'm actually not much further along than this one -- they are taking much more research now so each one is taking longer. I tried to ensure I was 5 chapters ahead, but I'm not anymore, due to said research. But it's fun! I'm kind of excited to see where it's going from here too :D
