Well, crap. What did you get to replace it? And did Anna have stuff backed up before the reformat?

Anna lost only some bookmarks as we shunted everything except games onto our numerous flashdrives (I think we're up to 7 or 8 now). Beyond that my computer woes and specs are listed here:

Along with my list of games that work on Vista:

I've had about eight people on the case since the downstairs computer 'sploded. It only happened yesterday, so I haven't had a lot of time to put the word out. Know where I can get a good case/power source/motherboard for a decent price? We checked out TigerDirect already. What can you suggest?

NewEgg is viable. In town you can grab stuff from CMI for a reasonable if not stellar price.

Newegg hasn't screwed me yet. I've been using em for five years or so.

Was anyone hurt? Can I get details on that?

No physical injuries. Just emotional ones. ^^; rumershard January 20 2009, 20:22:30 UTC
Dad's been gradually upgrading the downstairs computer ever since we realized that certain things wouldn't run on it as it was. He replaced the video cards, maxed out the RAM and installed the uber version of Vista. When the last video card was in place, he turned it on. Almost immediately, the power source exploded, rendering the computer inert. Because of the age of the thing, we've been having problems finding a replacement, but it looks like he's going to have to get a new motherboard as well as a new case with a power source attached. So he's basically going to have an entirely new system, save for audio cards. Which I find amusing.

But I can play Left4Dead on it when it's done! But Dad was quite distressed when it went kaput. It is his baby, after all...
