title: To Each His Dulcinea fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia rating: PG-13 word count: ~6700 characters: Spain, Romano (featuring Germany, America, and England) summary: The war is over, and all Spain wants to do is forget.
I've been trying for several days to come up with a coherent comment, something thoughtful about the themes or the edge of unreality or the gut-wrenching emotional impact, but - yeah. Gut-wrenching emotional impact. And everyone is spot-on. Especially England for some weird reason. And Romano trying to get Spain to wake up. Yeah. Ouch.
... Excellent story, I think I have to go have a good cry now.
Eee thank you so much! England is actually a character I've always had a hard time writing, so I'm glad you liked how I did him here! (I guess he's easier for me when I'm making fun of him? hahah) And yeah, Romano being the stable one in their interactions is kind of... horribly funny.
Oh, wow! I usually don't care for Spain or Romano fics, but you have totally changed my mind about them. Your dialogue is flawless, and this was such a smooth, lovely read ♥. Imagery is beautiful, too.
And I loved the shadows of loss and the heart symbolism behind both America and Spain in their section, especially.
Another non-Spain/Romano person reading my fics!! Yuss. But, d'aww, I'm so glad you liked it! Hah, I've been working on putting more imagery into my writing, so it's really good to know that's coming across a little.
Man I've been wanting to write something like that with those two for so long. They play off each other so well and nnnggh the parallels!

I love America being unwittingly dangerous. He's like the giant muscular pit bull that just wants to cuddle with you.
