I suppose deaths have a way of overshadowing lesser offenses.

Maybe I should try. It sounds like fun!

I think I'll go meet it. I want to play.

Depends on the "lesser offense."

Correct guess.

What an impressive and fun job. You must miss it, being stuck here.

Well thank you. I do, quite a bit.

What are you, where you come from?

Do you intend on changing it?

Mother's son. I come from Gaia.

I get as close as I can here. There's no way for me to go back.

Neither one of those terms mean anything to me... can you be more descriptive?

Really? You gave up so easily.

Gaia is where I'm from, but it's not my home. It's populated with fools, selfish, lying, or just dying of illness. My brothers and sisters are often orphaned from their false parents, because Mother is our only one. I'm her son, and I'll serve her. Whether I can hear her or not.

I don't mean the boat. The order I served was overthrown after I died. My job doesn't EXIST anymore.

Ah, religious fanatic. Carry on, then.

You died?

Mother is like a god...

Yes. I was dead, then I was here.

And apparently, a different "me" continued on back home, resurrected with cybernetics. Most everyone here from my world dates from a year or two after my death. You get used to this sort of nonsense after a while...

Supposed to be a couple gods on this ship.

Can you forgive them, for using your body?

I don't believe it.

I don't even know who did it, if anyone. It might simply have been an accident of Dark Eco. The stuff twists what it touches.

Depends on your definition of a god. I'm not certain I believe it, but others from my world do.

Eco?

They tend to be people in the guise of something better.

Oh Mar, not THIS conversation again.

Eco is an... element where I come from. There are five - pardon, six kinds. We use it for everything from energy and propulsion to ammunition and medical.

Well, if you worship a particular species, that makes it difficult to fake.

Is Eco formed from the souls of the dead?

That also makes you even more stupid.

... Not last I checked.

[chuckle] I'm not particularly religious. I wouldn't worship the rat even if he DID turn out to be a full-blooded Precursor.
