It was entirely possible that the Doctor had gotten way in over his head in this situation. It was not the sort of situation most people would consider "over their heads", but the Doctor had never been like most people, not even when he was among his own species. Which, at the moment (the moment being the 24th of June 2009) he was not ( Read more... )

Christina, for her part, had heard of the party from a friend of a friend of a friend. Word of these sorts of things spread quickly amongst the wealthy, particularly when they were thrown by new money. What had interested Christina, though, wasn't Mr. Finnis. "A friend of whomever has access to Finnis' prized possession, Doctor." There was certainly no reason to split hairs with him. He knew why she was there as much as she knew why he was there.

"Though I have to say, it just got a tad more interesting than it was a moment before." She plucked a glass of champagne off a roaming server and took a small sip. "You clean up nicely."

"As do you," the Doctor replied. "Not exactly the right sort of shoes for running about in." Or planning a heist, though he didn't have to say that to imply it.

He popped out a foot, showing off his black converses. "Always in style. And functional." He wondered, briefly, if she had a wench in her skirts. He wouldn't be surprised, knowing Christina. She did manage to make so many things fit inside of that bag of hers back on that desert he almost could believe she was a Time Lord.
