Companion to this amazing story by brigadiertardis.

Everybody knows that everybody dies.

Everybody except you.

You've seen them come and you've seen them go. Your companions, your lovers, your family. They move on or they get old and they die and you find a place deep inside your time ship to hide and just remind yourself that it's out there and you're safe ( Read more... )

Why do people enjoy breaking my heart? Seriously. First brigadiertardis does in her gorgeous piece. I finally get over that, then you come out with this one and break my heart all over again. The two pieces fit so well together. This is beautiful and I love the phrasing and second person. Watching the rooms disappear. That dread building in your stomach. Neither of them able to say goodbye properly. The parallels throughout both stories, ending with that Good-bye. It gets me every time. The last few lines before the goodbye I love. You will think of this in the centuries to come, in the cold wastes of a solitary timeline alone. You will think of this when you're living your life one day after another all in a neat pattern. You will think about the homeless traveler and his old police box, their days like crazy paving. Absolutely haunting and painfully beautiful.

Oh my gosh. That about had me in tears... brigadiertardis's original story was so beautiful, and then this companion piece went so perfectly with it. You did an amazing job of looking at the same events from the Doctor's perspective and making it a whole new story. It was heart-breaking, made even more so by seeing her side of it in the other piece.

This was really amazing. I'm sorry I don't have more articulate words. I'm trying not to cry here!

Linked here from the other post. I don't know why I missed this one.

I am, quite honestly, in tears right now. I just... the Doctor losing the TARDIS has always been such an upsetting thought, and the way you wrote it... this was so heartbreaking and beautiful and I just ache for him. I'm off to read the next bit. Beautiful.
