I love this story. I hope canon Ten turns out like yours, with the gray at his temples and the more subdued loneliness (and the more pronounced sensuality, with River).
This line in particular makes me want to write the Moff and tell him to give you a job as a writer:
Returning to the man he was, the man who has to know the way things are, instead of the man he's becoming, who imagines the way things might be.
My absolute favorite line just got yanked out of this, already. And the idea of th simple white quilt is utterly perfect as well. This is one of my favorites!
This is just perfect. I love your older Ten. I love his relationship with River and Jenny. Just wibbly and amazingly Ten. If you didn't get it, I love this.
Also, I'm pretty sure you're trying to break my heart.
