Thank you very much. I wanted to try for a situation that I thought he'd be completely useless in. Which is sort of ironic, him being the Doctor and everything.
This was nice. The Doctor sees a lot of senseless death in his adventures and he tends to just grit his teeth and go on because there's always some kind of bigger goal at hand that he's gotta get through, but it's really kind of cool to show that he is affected by it and he does care when people die. Even as jaded as he is, people do mean something to him. Very cool.
I think the day he stops noticing each individual's death is the day he becomes more like the Master. People are what're important to him, that's why he loves Earth. Each person is so unique.
but by the time her son was eight she might've met someone who was willing to give her a chance. Might've moved out of this neighborhood, got a degree in art. Might've. Might've.

That is haunting, and 'rip your heart out' tragic. In such a short amount of time you were able to make Maria a real person, which is quite a talent.
