my israeli friend who was dealing with constant lice discovered that the secret to constant lice is the combing. she combs her kids with the lice comb every single time they bathe and in the past two years (living in israel which is lice city) her 1 child has had it once.

I don't know what olive oil does for lice, i understand that combing gets live bugs out of your hair. also that the nits are impervious to treatment which is why combing is so good. it really is not a big deal.

you can put your sheitels in the freezer for a a couple of weeks, but while you are dealing with this you are better off wearing a tight tichel or snood if you don't want to deal with this for yourself.

i also think lice are only interested in humans, so don't go torturing your pets. i don't think the lice would be interested.

the combing (if done with a nit comb) takes the nits out of the hair.

This link is the best way to get rid of the lice without using pesticides.

Oil and vinegar are not effective at all for the reasons described in this link. The only thing the oil is doing is lubricating the hair shaft to make combing out the nits easier.

Honestly it is very probably that you yourself do have nits.

Combing, with the special nit comb. And drown them with the silicon-based nit killing potion.

when i was in sem in israel, they suggested putting a few drops of rosemary oil into a shampoo bottle and it helps keep the nits away (they don't like the smell?). not sure if it's true, but shouldn't hurt.
good luck getting rid of them! they can really be a plague! i remember going thru this off and on as a child :(
