I went to a neurologist because it was awful. Now I take a tablet every day as long term treatment, and Zomig oro when there is a crisis. But I shouldn't take more than 6 zomigs a month... and certainly not more than 10/12, so I'm careful.
Sometimes I feel like EVERYTHING can trigger a migraine: heavy weather, weather changing/rain, heat, cold, stress (even positive), hormones/cycles, not eating enough/enough carbs and sugar, or just stam nothing. of course eating MSG is a KILLER, and some yeast/baking powders too...
I have tried homeopathy, hypnosis, phythotherapy, acupuncture, and other stuff (you can find them in the tags), also various meds, before BH finding these meds. I'm also trying ear acupuncture and we'll see!
I have some friends and relatives who've found better health through an elimination diet. It's a huge inconvenience and takes forever, but the potential payoff is good. You basically cut your diet down to vegan with no gluten for a stretch, keeping a diary of your body (feeling, BMs, anything abnormal) and then you introduce new foods very gradually, and one at a time. Like eggs, then dairy, then gluten, then anything else that might be an allergen. I have never done this myself because I am too exhausted to make special meals for myself on top of cooking for everyone else. But if I had migraines regularly (haven't had one since pre-kids BH, it reset something) I might be tempted. Yes, it's a pain, but so is taking a pill daily forever! Good luck.

How much time did it take for them to spot the "wrong" foods?
