When you say read Hebrew, do you mean well enough to translate, or well enought to read, say an untransliterated, vowel-less siddur?

Second option. I want to be able to follow the prayers normally, without "deciphering". I'm soooo slow, and I don't even recognize all the letters. For some reason, the Hebrew alphabet is really hard for me... so, while at home I can always bring a transliterated siddur for let's say seder, at shul, it's "I know it by heart" or "I'm stuck". It's annoying.

Also I expect that in Créteil many women will be frummer and also (I think?) more learned, some of them will have been to Jewish school, etc, and I don't want to be "lacking"...
