Yeah - and I'm still complaining.

This post was inspired by the lovely and talented bronxelfSo I've been feeling a bit down with the job search thing - it's hard being unemployed. I've never been in this situation before! Gah ( Read more... )

Ah honey- I'm sorry to hear about the job situation. And isn't it crazy about the difference in salaries; we got very used to NYC- Jim makes less than half of what I used to make!

I'm thinking about you and sending nothing but the best job-finding vibes to you!!!

And I can so commisserate on the tax bill. I've decided to put it out of my head until April 15th- don't you love denial??

Thanks dear - yeah it sucks. How are you feeling? When are you due? Soon, yes?

April is the cruelest month indeed

Yes, I know, I'm seriously feeling sorry for myself. Even though the cost of living here is so low I guess the diff in salary is just like sticker shock to me.

I know I'm lucky - just a bit impatient once in a while.

Ahhh, job searching. It's pratically like a job in itself. I should probably go into recruitment, the amount of time I've spent searching for jobs. Good luck with it all.

The pay cut will suck... but presumably costs will be less? It's the same here with London vs. Entire Rest of the UK salaries: you get nearly double the money in London, but rents are thrice as steep, and travel costs are insane. So it works out, it's just an adjustment.

You'll find something fabulous!

Being unemployed sucks big time. Sorry you're having such a hard time. 50%? Really? That seems... awfully large.

Sorry about the car stuff. And tax stuff.

I know everything will work out. I just hope it's sooner, rather than later.

Thanks dear. Yes, esp. in this economy. J. is from the state with the largest unemployment rate in the country. I'm lucky if I get away with a 50% cut. But as others have said the cost of living is so much less. (Except for the gas of course.) Plus I have to look at it this way - we've paid for the house so no mortgage and the credit card debt is gone.

All we have now is the car (which should be back on Monday), cobra and the phones, cable, internet and food. All the other stuff will wait. Heck I haven't gotten my hair or nails done in months. But I was spoiled. I'm just getting used to things.

All part of living and stuff.
