I think loads of recent pop artists would do that. I love the romantic idea that the perfect pop song would just be completely organic, but some great music comes from people who know too much about the subject.

And my favourite pop songs are all over this length anyway, I don't think there's a 'perfect' pop song but I like to think about the possibility.
