A general description of what to expect of the catacombs can be found on the "Locations" page, but if you're inquiring more about what creatures one might find down there; There are the standard rats and bugs to be found, though if one should happen to wander too deep they increase in size and degree of monstrosity until what lurks in the depths is barely even recognizable as any sort of natural being.

is it possible to create custom functions for the watches, such as an application that makes it easier to input text (via voice), a more efficient filter or, say, a "chat" client proper?

Someone with sufficient abilities in that sort of area would be able to manage the addition of basic functions(Voice to text, better filters), but more advanced or demanding ones("Chat") would be beyond what the watches could manage.

i don't remember if this was addressed in the f.a.q., but to my understanding video/audio posts lend themselves to be private between the people talking, right? in the sense that no one can really barge in, although...idk, are they viewable/listenable in the first place? @_@

Do characters remember Ruby City while they're at home for their canon update?

In general, yes. But there is some latitude for players to decide if they want their character to remmeber the city when they've been sent home for update or not.

Okaay, what if a character can see ghosts would they be able to see anything Ruby City?

No, as there are no ghosts in Ruby City. The only way there would be one was if a ghost character were to apply and be accepted.

Is it safe to assume that some of the apartments/housing is furnished?

Yes. Most of the residences are at least partially furnished. The city seems to have been abandoned completely, with the former inhabitants leaving many of their possessions behind.
