[Lazlo's eyes flicker toward the retreating backs of the dragonlings, then to Maciel. He tilts his head slightly.] Are they all yours, sir?

[Smiling, Maciel leads the young man inside, gesturing to the table where the kids have seated themselves and had already begun to pass around plates.]
Dragons are naturally versed in magic, and there are seven types. So there are mages chosen who specialize in a certain type, and they typically have two to four dragons in their care at most.
[He explains as he sets a pot of water onto the stove.]

[Lazlo looks at the dragonlings once more-- He could tell that they weren't human, but pinning down what they were... He smiles, somewhat bemused but mostly fascinated.]
But you ended up with, ah. Quite a few, hmm?

[He smiles as one of the girls trots over to Lazlo, offering a plate of fresh toast.]
-I did, yes. [Chuckle.] One of each. Once every....so many centuries, there's a mage that can learn and wield all types of dragon magic.

[Only think, because there are kobolds and nay-kobolds and for all he knows, there could be dragons that take on a human shape.
As that toast is offered, he smiles and murmurs] Thanks. [softly and takes a piece before turning his attention back to Maciel.]
And you're one of them?

Meanwhile, Maciel adds the tea leaves to steep once the water's gotten hot enough. He glances back at their guest, smiling faintly.]
I guess you could say that, yes.

W-well no, it's true. At first I was overwhelmed by it- taking responsibility of seven dragons? It's... [He shakes his head.]
It doesn't matter anymore, because I couldn't think of how things would be without them. We're family.
