Second-hand smoke. The chemicals aren't just fucking up your body, but also the bodies of the people around you who are breathing your smoke in. Cigarettes were pretty effectively banned from being smoked in public in... the twenty-first century, I believe, for that same reason.

We do a lot of things that are bad for us. Smoking is one of them, but at least it doesn't usually hurt the people around you.

As for the masquerade...it sounds a bit suspicious to me, but most of us here can defend ourselves. If it's a trap, I'd think it could be overcome with everyone there working together. Personally, I don't really like the idea.
