[To those who've only met him as Edogawa Conan, cute and helpful child whose surprising amount of knowledge about the city is surely just precociousness, Conan's tone as he speaks may come as a surprise. Citizens who've heard Conan reason, however, will recognise this as 'business mode'. Conan's sitting on the top of a set of shelves in one of the ( Read more... )

Well I'm kinda new, and I want to know what kinds of things the people who brought us here do to us. I was told it was pretty bad.

[Kou speaks to Conan like he would to anyone, not used to talking to smaller children. That's probably for the better]

You seem like a pretty bright kid, so I thought I'd try askin'.

[Not as locked as I thought then? Oi oi ...]

It depends! The last thing they did was to change something about us and make us think we'd always been that way. For example, instead of being Conan-kun, I was Conan-chan. Other people had bigger changes -- one of my friends went from being ordinary to being able to fly. Other's had drastic personality changes.

They also made it so that we couldn't remember what happened very well.

...Conan-kun.

[Vash looks a little better than the last time Conan saw him.]

I'm afraid magic isn't my forte any more than it is yours, but I'll be glad to talk. Where should we meet?

Agency's empty right now, but I don't have a preference.

[Vash nods.]

I'll meet you at the agency then.

[He clicks off the feed and a few minutes later arrives at the door to the agency, knocking on the door-- and then realizing, that Conan might not be back in yet, stands there awkwardly debating what to do.]

[He doesn't have long to debate -- there's the sound of footsteps on the stairs, and before long, a small detective appears, complete with shopping bag -- Conan picked up some bottled water and iced tea on the way.]

Ah, please go inside, Vash-san. I won't be a moment.

In my- [A pause as she thinks this over, trying to keep her work secret while still making a valid point.] research over the past ten years or so, what seems like magic is just technology so far beyond our understanding that it only seems that way.

It's very possible. I'm sure there's a way to explain it, but we don't have the tools yet.

I'll have to lend a hand and look into it. It certainly sounds like some of the thigns I deal with on a daily basis back home.

It may not be magic, you know. In my world 'magic' is just a word for technology or abilities we can't explain yet. I know that's not true in all worlds, but it wouldn't do to rule that out.

That's sort of what I meant by 'for lack of a better word' -- there's definitely a way to explain everyone's different abilities -- and our captors.

I can try to make a magic detector, if I can work with someone who does use proper magic to calibrate such a thing... Would that help you?

You can-- no, stupid question. That would be very helpful, Miss Buckley!

In terms of what we're looking for, teleportation-wise, so far the closest we've found to what happens in the stores is Morrigan-san.
