[Aqua turns towards him as he approaches, the clink of his spurs giving her plenty warning as to the approach of another. A couple Floods form out of the ground between him and Aqua, seeming to sniff him over before Aqua nods to them that he's alright.]

It's quiet and peaceful. I can think clearly with Vanitas bothering me to much.

[The Flood climbs up her shoulder and nuzzles her cheek, making her laugh softly.]

I couldn't sleep either. What brings you out?

[[Rufus casually reaches into his pocket to fish out a packet of cigarettes, as well as a lighter.]]

Watchin' out fer crimes an' whatnot.

[[He turns around to light it, takes a pull, then casually exhales.]]

But it's still relatively peaceful, so I ain't too concerned.

[[Rufus faces Aqua once more, now occasionally taking a pull from the cigarette.]]

Same as most nights. Except when the Watcher and Interloper want to play.

[Aqua smirks, and it looks kind of bitter. And nearly, a scrapper pops up and hovers around her ankles.]

Well, if anything happens now, at least you won't have to deal with them on your own.

[She turns all the way to look at him, gold eyes gleaming mischievously.]

[...And here he though he was going to be alone for a while at the riverbank. He hasn't been sleeping much lately, instead wandering around at night or watching the feeds for anything of interest. Tonight was the former, and he almost... wished it weren't the case. There was that familiar scent; one of water mixed with mountain air and snow─he remembered snow well, even though he'd only seen it once before coming here.

But something was amiss. Something was wrong with the taint in it. It wasn't just the same, reminiscent scent he could recall from Castle Oblivion, what he couldn't help but remember since first setting foot into that castle on the border between darkness and light. So as he approached, even before he saw the Unversed floating around the familiar figure, his eyes were narrowed.

What could have happened─? Was this a trick; a game the Watcher and Interloper began on them again?

He had to know, but those creatures... they felt so wrong too─the same taint─]

[Aqua's still skipping rocks calmly while a Flood investigates Riku. She still wasn't used to being called Master Aqua and she wasn't sure that she deserved to be a Master anymore. Terra did but not her. After a moment, she grips the rocks tightly and then lets them drop before turning towards Riku. She smiles weakly before calling the Flood back over to her.]

Couldn't sleep either, Riku?

[She sits down in the grass a second later and pats the ground next to her for him to join her.]

[He just shrugs faintly, but he notices that glint of gold far too well in the moonlight as he approaches. At least, until the Flood begins to investigate. ...What was this thing, and why did they have the same-? Questions begin forming in his brain, but breaking the neutrality would be a horrible idea at the moment.]

Sleep's for the weak.

[Terrible joke, but still. Riku sighs, sitting down next to her. He doesn't get it at all.] Just a long night.

[He's still keeping an eye on that Flood though, the sensation a bit grating on his nerves.]

[Terrible joke but Aqua still laughs. It felt good to laugh, she'd been brooding plenty tonight. She pulls her legs up comfortably and wraps her arms around her knees.]

Yeah, it is. At least it can be long for both of us.

[Aqua glances at the Flood then at Riku and shakes her head.]

No, I've had them for awhile now. They took a liking to me after the Keyblade Graveyard events.
