She's never encountered this person before, but the way he speaks implies that he's one of those who has a hand in the city's goings on--Which means that as much as she'd like to just shoot him for that reason alone, some prudence might be called for here.]
I'd say we're not "well" at all. So tell me, if you're so thrilled, why that is? Is there some good news to be had in all this? You don't seem like things are any better where you are, frankly.
