[ Though he had an internal metronome, it was at least nice to see his clock wasn't off. He smiled as they continued though, keeping the melody steady. Unless instructed otherwise, all he would do is continue to play the proposed melody with the harpsichord.

That's what he was made to do, he lacked the human touch it took to compose his own music, though he could take liberties when the permission was given to make small changes here or there to suit the composer's visions. ]
