The second storey apartment of the apartment building that Ran and Conan live in has been long empty. There's nothing to attract attention there -- you could be forgiven for never glancing past the faded curtains. Or not noticing when said curtains were taken down and replaced. Inside the kitchen, lounge and one of the bedrooms have been cleaned up

[Vash smiles as he approaches, reading the sign with a raised eyebrow.]

Good afternoon, Conan-kun. You're starting up your own business now?

[Conan smirks, standing to retrieve a neatly handwritten file from one of the cabinets. He doesn't say anything, just holds it out for Vash's perusal.]

[Vash flips through the file, raising an eyebrow.]

This is amazing, Conan-kun-- Who was it written by? One of the original inhabitants? [He takes note of the pronoun "us" and the way that the profiles seem to be more of a survival guide than anything else. Whoever was speaking had at least met the Watcher and Interloper and expected his readers to have as well.] These two that aren't our main hosts-- Have they been seen in the city?

The city's police force. We found them in filing cabinets in the police office we were clearing out to use ourselves -- the cabinets had obviously been displaced in a struggle and were lying beneath a broken window, exposed to the wind and rain. Most were completely illegible. Those alone remained.

...Police force? I suppose that explains some of the phrasing. That does give me some hope, though, that my rather pointless exploring of the city and its abandoned buildings might actually turn out to be fruitful. [After rereading the page several times to commit its contents to memory, Vash closes the file and hands it back to Conan.]

Have we been able to give names or faces to any of the other guests that the brother's invited?

Just be careful where you explore! I -- made the mistake in January of exploring a house that was so dilapidated, I was sure that it would never occur to our captors it might be explored and so thought they might have overlooked something. I got into trouble ... [Conan carefully returns file to it's place.]

Temper Vale is the most active ... then I think there's Tim.

...I told you about how my exploring got myself and 202 stuck in the catacombs, right? I know all about getting into trouble because of careless wandering.

"Temper Vale"? That name sounds a little more in line with crazy powerful tormentors than-- "Tim".

That's true! But be careful -- if Christine-san even suspects that I'm encouraging anyone else to have a roof fall on them, I'm in big trouble.

I guess it shows that we can't make assumptions.

[Vash chuckles a little.] I won't tell her if you won't, Conan-kun. We can be partners in the crime of not telling Christine about our dangerous escapades.

I suppose. Still, "Tim"? [The second laugh is grim and dark humored.]
