[The scene relayed by the communicator seems a relatively normal one. At the angle which the watch is set, the viewer can easily see a good deal of the surrounding room. Against one wall is a neatly made bed over which hangs a well worn M1 Carbine, easily within arms reach even when laying down. A smaller handgun glints from where it has been slung

Oh, Theta.
[Why yes, he will act all calm despite his elevated heart rate.]
Hello. Ah, yes, well... it's an edelweiss. It's from back home. I hadn't expected to find one here...

Well, I mean, edelweiss is pretty distinctive... The finer points of flower recognition I'm not so good at.

Yes, it is. It's my favorite flower... right along side the lily.

[ but vash-san really has a heart of gold! ]
Is Vash-san interested in flowers?
Reply
[Well, he does, but not because of Chise seeing; it's more like he has an issue with the communicators having an apparent will of their own.]
I don't know if I'd say that I'm necessarily interested in flowers, but... this one, the edelweiss, is special to me. My unofficially official national flower... It reminds me of home.

[It's said with a touch of gentle amusement. Naoki is looking down into the feed, his chin leaned on his palm, expression somewhere between curious and thoughtful.]
Though, that aside...things familiar to us seem to have an inexplicable way of showing up here now and again.

Naoki. Hello, again.
Do they really? ...For some reason, I find that disturbing. Does that mean that things are being taken from our home worlds to keep us entertained? Hm.

They do. I've found one thing from my home here. [He hums at that, pensive.] Maybe. If they have the ability to take us here, objects shouldn't be more difficult.

Edelweiss, Edelweiss, small and white
Clean and bright
You look happy to meet me,
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grown,
Bloom and grow forever.
Edelweiss, Edelweiss, bless my homeland forever.~

Hungary. I didn't realize my communicator was on.

It does that a lot, doesn't it? These things seem crafty in their own minds a lot of the time.

How is your shoulder, Hungary?

Gosh, Vash, that must be one special flower.

John? How... Oh. The communicator must have turned itself on again. Wonderful.
[As he replies the country wipes up the spill with the edge of his shirt.]
Yes, it is special. It's my country's flower... A national symbol. They grow back home... Seeing one here is... odd.
[A moment of sadness flashes over Switzerland's face, but it is gone before anyone could really say it was there at all.]

[He eyes the flower in question, the significance finally clicking in his head.] Oh, yeah, my state has one of those! I wonder why a Swiss flower is growing here, though? It is sort of odd.
...but I guess it must be kinda comforting, too, huh? Maybe?

I don't know why this flower is here and it was only the one... They usually grow in groups. It seemed lonely, all by itself so I brought it back with me. I suppose it is comforting, in a way... but it's also a little painful. To be reminded of what I can't have...
Are you settling in okay?
