[Liz almost seems not to notice the communicator. She must though; it's in her hand and she just thumbed it open to turn it on. But her gaze is directed off elsewhere.]

So then... Happy New Year, everyone. I guess celebrating the holidays in this place isn't the best thing, but still.

[She glances back to the communicator with a faint smile, ( Read more... )

I used to spend a lot of time in the library back home when I wasn't training. I actually haven't had the chance to visit the library here but it's one of my favorite things to do.

With the weather here though, I like ice skating. I set up an ice rink on the roof of my apartment.

The library? [Liz nods.] That's not a bad idea. A good book might be really helpful right now.

[A pause though and she looks interested at the next information.] I haven't been ice skating in a long time. How did you make a rink on your roof?

I'm sure there are quite a few books a lot of us have never heard of.

[Aqua smiles warmly.] I cast Blizzaga, though, this was much stronger so I'm not sure that'd be the name.

I bet that's true.

[A nod and Liz smiles back.] So magic then. That makes sense.

[Look, he's alive! Somehow... Actually it looks like he's just woke up- and a little paler than usual. He's wrapped up in a blanket but somehow he manages a smile, although there's something of a sad look in his eyes.]

It's the New Year...? Oh... Well I guess with time passing differently here, I won't need to worry too much about missing festivities back home... [He coughs- ah, seems he's caught a cold.]

[Oh Ayame, Liz is glad to see you, but a little worried with how the poor man looks.]

Well, Western anyway. [She pauses for a moment.] Are you not feeling well, Ayame?

[Cough-] -I've been better. The weather and I don't get along, but I guess I should be fortunate that the heat started working again or I'm sure I would have frozen... or been hibernating or something like that..!

[He chuckles weakly.] Ah, Tori-san would probably be upset at me for not taking better care of myself.

[This is Liz's scolding face, Ayame.] Really, you should have let me know you were having trouble. I have... ah... a tendency to keep things warm. [No one freezes to death with a pyrokinetic in the mix. Other to deaths, yes. But not freezing.]

Well, you ought to look after yourself. [She smiles.] Do you like soup? I wouldn't normally make someone try to choke down my cooking, but I can manage soup pretty well.

The new year begins now? How odd. [Ah, Liz. He has not seen her in a while, and that does not bode well with him. Those he had decided would serve him must not disappear.]

In our land, the new year begins with the first rainfall.

[She nods, pausing to spare a smile in his direction.] It does, for a lot of cultures. Others are a bit later, because they follow the lunar cycles I think. But we mark our years the same every year, 365 days in total.

I see. I suppose it is convenient, for you. How do you celebrate it?

With as many people as there are in my world, it saves a lot of confusion to have a standard calendar.

[She pauses again before smiling.] Well, in general people celebrate it with parties and champagne. And fireworks, sometimes. And it's tradition, as the clock turns midnight and the new year begins, to kiss the one you love.

Personally, I'm not one for big parties. So for me, it's a quieter occasion.
