Maybe it was strange to most others, but Kenshin had never really fallen out of his old sleeping habits from years ago. Most nights he chose to sleep, if it could be called that, near the floor length window of the main room of the small apartment he'd found in the city. He sat, his head bowed ever so slightly in a manner that was indicative of someone who was asleep, one arm loose at his side as the other folds into his lap. His sword stayed in the crook of that arm, the hilt of the sword lightly resting on the wall his back was against. For all intents and purposes, Kenshin Himura was as comfortable as anyone else when they were asleep ( ... )

Despite his subdued approach and his quiet words she still jerked at the movement and sound, her gaze settling on him with that same harried expression while trying to be certain he wasn't the bloodied mess that had appeared in her dream--and only then did she begin to calm.

Her breath continued to come rapidly, but she kept them shallow and quiet, before bringing her hands up to her face and shaking her head lightly. "No I'm... I'm alright..." she lowered her hands, one resting at her chest where her heart still felt like it would break through her ribcage, the other settling against the mattress. "I was dreaming--I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you..."

A frown settled over his features, and firmly took up residence. Though their time was far too short, especially in his opinion, he knew enough about his wife to know that she was not "alright".

"You don't have to apologize to this one, he would rather be here." The remark was whispered as he stepped over to the edge of the bed. "He would not be more comfortable sleeping while you are awake." He took his sword by its sheath and set it against the wall near the head of the bed before seating himself on the matress near Tomoe. He left the lights off, instead resting the hand that had been near the lamp over the one of hers that was on the mattress.

His hand rested lightly atop hers as he watched her closely in the dark. His eyes were adjusting, and he could better see her features.

"What was the dream?" He asked the question cautiously. It was probably more acurate to call it a nightmare, simply judging by the cry, and the state she was in now.

She watched him as he approached, more than a little relieved that he didn't opt to use the electric lights. She lowered her eyes as he drew closer, glancing at his hand as it touched hers. Tomoe shook her head lightly, the hand at her chest lifting to brush some of her hair back.

"I don't..." she answered before moving her hand to curl her fingers around his. She was already losing the specifics of the nightmare, key images lingering--but considering his part in her death she didn't particularly want to repeat its roll in the dream. Her fingers squeezed his just a bit more, "I don't want to talk about it... I just..." she shook her head again. She wasn't sure what she wanted at the moment, other than to be assured that it wasn't real.
