Perhaps life would be easier if it were all purple.

I have half a story brewing in my head about all of this, but I'm much better at expounding than I am about actually attaching a meaningful interaction to it, so I'm putting this down for your consumption. Perhaps it might draw your curiosity a little.

Seeing as how porn, cheap drugs, and weight loss products drive the internet, I suspect it'll turn out like some giant version of TV. That is to say, there will be different tiers of service. The lowest tier (not unlike network TV), free of cost possibly, being filled with sloppy/slow bandwidth and spam (in all it's glorious forms)... while the upper tiers (such as premium cable) would allow for greater freedoms and no spam at the expense of, well, being expensive. There are haves and have-nots right outside the door, it'll happen to the internet too, given enough time.

It's already starting. There's the Internet^2 and now this GoodMail service AOL's come up with.

That makes me think of one of the polydimensional theories of the nature of the universe, wherein what we perceive as our dimensions are, in the greater scheme of things, merely the four dimensional surface of intersections of superstring sheets. No less real for that, but at the same time, almost commanding there be many other universes as well, some of which may indeed be parallel.

I suppose I otter read Snow Crash at some point. And Transmetropolitan, while I'm at it.. got that sitting onna stick on a DVD-R somewhere. (But gods, being around The Horde is pretty much penicillin to mold, with blessed release from around 10pm-6am..)
