Taking a day off to rest. I don't generally let myself do that, and I probably should more often (but not too often, of course).

Another pic of Gryf's that is rubbery and yummy yummy yummy. Although part of me wants to start quoting, "I'm Sealman ( Read more... )

I saw the predictions on the Friday night before Katrina hit and told [info]momentrabbit that it was likely going to be a major disaster. At least I think it was Friday night or Saturday morning.

Ayup. I recall you expressing concern about it Friday night, and getting progressively more concerned as the weekend went on - I think you sent 'Get out!' warnings Saturday night to a few in the path.

I've been going back to check out Weather Underground since you showed it off Sunday morning - interesting to see what the meteorologists look at.

I miss having interesting conversations in the car. :( (snugs)

It's interesting to see what they say, really.

I've been trying to poke you to get Skype up and running, so we can talk about things that are black and white and squeaky all over...

Though, Skype's now part of the evil empire of eBay.. :-P How does it work out, in cost? I've seen phonecards and the like offering impossibly low rates - in 2001, the card I picked up at random from a Kwik-E-Mart gave me Australia->UK for something like 2AU¢/min. From the UK, there's a pretty good spread of providers, like Telestunt, who appear to work off the basis of very carefully syphoning off excess capacity from telcos, and keeping their operational costs to a minimum. (Yes, their charge for calling a UK number is the same as for a US number. A bit different to a decade ago :)

I think it was Saturday when I really became aware of Katrina's severity, before it temporarily ramped up to 180mph (category 5) winds. Then came that apocalyptic NOAA bulletin - Saturday also?

Dammit. Why are Bush, Cheney, Chertoff, Brown, and Rice not in front of a prosecutor right now? I want them to explain themselves, in public.

Ebay hasn't bought it yet. Last I heard they'd been trying to stay independent (and jack up the price)...

It's free computer-to-computer, which is what I'm trying to do. Besides that, it's cheap enough computer-to-phone, but it's the computer-to-computer feature I'm trying to use.
