He rushed them, pulling Heather away and grabbing Beck by the collar. “You’ve got a hell of a lot of nerve coming back here Major.”
He only shook his head, indicating that they were gone. That he had no one.
“I was going to head to Fort Polk if I didn’t find you.

That is so sweet... and sad. He literally has nobody but Heather. I don't think I *could* turn him away.

Beck was limp in his grasp, not bothering to fight.

Yeah, whatever happened to him is a doozy of a story. And depressing as all get out

Gray Anderson had forbidden her to leave. He’d forbidden all the women to leave the city limits, on the basis that they were more susceptible to attack on the post-war roads.

Both Emily and herself had openly protested, quoting that they weren’t wilting flowers.

lol. Gray needs a good smack upside the head sometimes.

And he didn’t want to give up this small joy of just walking with her, holding her hand.

awwwww

I wouldn't be able to turn him away, for sure.

Beck was also gone for a very long time. In perspective at any rate. This is a whole new beck. I dunno if I like him yet.

Gray always needed a good smack upside the head, except for the last episode. He had his shit in order. "Yeah, I thought it'd been too long since Johnston had anything to say about the way things were going in this town." That line is classes, and his redeeming point for me.

Yeah, Gray finally turned the corner towards the end there. He's not there yet, but he's headed in the right direction now. A few more smacks upside the head ought to do the trick.

Gray, I thought tended to be too much like an ostrich, I thought. To euphemistically describe the problem with that is if one is going to hide their head in crap the only reward they are going to get is a face full of poop. Was glad to see him pull his head out in "Patriots & Tyrants".

It doesn't surprise me the amount of heat and anger Bill reacts with in seeing Beck again. Bill always struck me as being this side of a loose cannon. I remember him trying to keep order in the first season when food was being distributed -- or not distributed. And some of the statements he's made when having discussions with Jimmy.

“You hit me.” Ha! :) I'm glad you had him mention it because I think that would be a very Beck thing for him to do/say. He does seem so defeated though. That bit of arrogance that he had at the beginning of season 2 is nowhere to be seen here.

I'm wondering how he found out about his wife and daughter dying. Also, it will be interesting if he still has a place in the Army or not and whether or not what they were telling him in Cheyenne was true.

Looking forward to seeing more.

I felt the same way. When he pulled his gun at the food distribution I thought, "No WAY did that just happen!" And then he kept getting crazier. He was so nice one moment, then this unbearable ass the next.

That bit of arrogance that he had at the beginning of season 2 is nowhere to be seen here.

His mouth fell open and he immediately thought the worst. He pulled his gun from its holster, hitched on a plain leather belt rather than his former deputy uniform.

Nice to know Bill hasn't changed all that much... LOL

But, a plan is already forming in her mind when she goes back inside

That's my girl! No letting him go off alone for her! I hope...

He was far too frail

That just makes me want to cry. And take him home and take care of him. Poor Beck!!

“Fuck Bill. Not literally you know, but forget about him

Okay - this made me laugh really hard.

In this fic, Bill will always be Bil. With a personality like his, I can't see living in a war zone for five years making him any worse or better,

That's my girl! No letting him go off alone for her! I hope...

Still a mother hen type. Not as bad as Emily or Gail, but she's got her moments. It's more of a 'You're in danger and you need help' sort of mother hen whereas the other two are always worrying and fretting over every thing.

That just makes me want to cry. And take him home and take care of him. Poor Beck!!

The next scene was one of the MOST fun scenes I've written in a while. lolz

Okay - this made me laugh really hard.

This new Heather has a dirty mouth and a quick mind. I hope you're prepared.
