Aaaall right, let's try this one. Sex not intrinsically bad. Sex pleasant, if you're one of the most people who enjoy having it. Sex fun. Sex... a good exercise, at the very least •grin

[Captain John] It's a sad, backwards little era you're stuck in, I'll give you that much. Do people actually need that spelled out? Explain again how you manage to have sex with any of them without their little heads exploding.
Assuming you care about whether or not they do explode, but you seem to be doing this whole -- damned boring! -- "reformed" thing, so I'll guess you do.
[Anat] You mock us for putting aside the paths of destruction? For learning means of control? It is by far the harder task. And look: now you have met two who could destroy you. I have armies at my hand, bound by their loyalty - their love.
The ones you scorn are more powerful than you, Captain. Think on that a moment.
But the thing is, you want to go off and play white-hat? Good for you. And I mean that. Enjoy your warm-fuzzies or whatever it is you get from that.
Not my thing. Probably never will be. Mostly because, as I said, I think it's boring. You don't? Fan-bloody-tastic.
But life's short, we're all going to die someday, and I plan on getting all I want in the meantime, possibly doing a bit of dying young, and leaving a beautiful corpse. Maybe a beautiful pile of ash, who knows?
And if you'd like to destroy me because I don't much see the point in fighting for truth and justice... Well, you won't have been the first with that opinion.
You've already had the political and sociological rant handed to you by Jacqueline. I won't bother repeating that. And I can't really argue any of the points you've made.
But as far as the idea that you should only love one person at a time...
It's not about loving people. It's about... finding the time, really. (And my ellipses are multiplying. I could have sworn we just sprayed for those.)
When you love someone -- no, scratch that, when you're in love with someone -- you want to know they'll be there when you need them. That they won't just run off and leave you alone because they've decided someone else takes precedence. It's selfish, perhaps, but it's rather difficult to not be afraid in that kind of circumstance. Particularly if you're used to just having the one person

[Tiamat] Do you want someone's All, human pup? To see that eye turned on you and never turned away? When I was a whelp and flightless, we hid from the matrim who hatched us and knew, should we scream, she would visit death on each one of our enemies.
We are taught to brood so we do not overwhelm. The heart of a drakulk would burn you to cinders like the sun, which stands far away and lights you all.
[Cap'n Jack] Okay, the first time I met you, you almost blew up the British Isles. That's great and all, but can you please keep your beak out of my home life? Thanks.
[Giacomo] And now we're all commenting at once! Thrilling, isn't it? But I'm sure I'm the last.
Just taking a moment to say that I agree more or less completely. Granted, I've made it a point to love everyone I've taken to bed (it's hard not to, when you're that fond of women), but there's loving someone and there's giving your heart away. Unfortunately, the difference is a bit too subtle for most people to grasp.
