Two things I've learned recently:

- the Washington Redskins are from the other Washington
- stocking stuffers are not necessarily literally stuffed into stockings

I knew the first one but I thought the second one was true? Don't goyim have stockings that they hang up by a fireplace and they put gifts in them? And aren't those gifts known as "stocking stuffers"?

That's what I thought - and my brother-in-law says that that's how his family did it growing up, so I guess it can mean that - but for some families it's just metaphorical. Merriam-Webster defines it as "a small gift suitable for placing in a Christmas stocking" or "a small gift that is usually placed in a Christmas stocking".

(This came up because a former teammate mentioned wanting to buy some Amazon Music downloads as "stocking stuffers" for family members, and I couldn't quite picture how you could stuff the 1s and 0s into the stocking without their coming out through the holes in the fabric.)

I feel like under those circumstances, I'd stuff a note into the stocking explaining that was what the present was...Probably a large note so it took up more room.

Yeah, I figured he should at least print out the gift e-mail and stuff it in there. :-)
