Everyone had thought that when Inara left that Mal would become grumpier and even worse to be around. But he hadn’t. He’d actually became a lot easier to get along with, able to share jokes with Jayne when out on jobs, or laugh at Wash’s jokes. He was like a new man.

That was of course until Kaylee finally managed to hook up with the Doc.

Somethin about it all just put him in one hell of a mood. He would snap at everyone, including Simon and make sure that Kaylee and Simon knew that in no uncertain terms were they to be acting inappropriately in places where others might walk in on them.

“I just don’t get it,” Kaylee said one night as all of them bar Mal sat around the table in the galley, playin cards, “He was so happy before.”

“If you ask me, the man just needs to get laid,” Jayne grumbled.

Everyone ignored him though, going back to their cards, “He’s just not comfortable with public displays of affection is all,” Zoe said.

“He doesn’t seem to have a problem with you and Wash though,” Simon pointed out, making Jayne and Kaylee snort in amusement, “What?”

“It’s taken us years to wear him down,” Wash explained, “He used to be even worse with us. In fact I don’t think he actually acknowledged that we were a proper couple until we got married.”

“Maybe he had his heart broken,” Kaylee said, “And he’s just bitter.”

“Never been in love,” River muttered quietly, making them all look up at her in surprise, “He wants to. Needs to. Feels like he’s missing out. It’s no fun being the black sheep. Too much wool with no one to give it to.”

“Right,” Wash said, turning back to the others, “So apparently there’s a wool problem. Maybe he’s really hairy and it itches or somethin.”

Kaylee giggled, elbowing him playfully.

“I think what River was trying to say was that he has a lot of love to give but no one to give it to,” Zoe explained.

“So what, he’s jealous or somethin?” Jayne asked.

“Makes sense,” Simon said thoughtfully, “I mean, he cared for Inara but was unable to form the type of relationship he wanted with her, leaving him frustrated and angry. And now, with Kaylee and I, it just reminds him of what he doesn’t have.”

“Hell,” Jayne said throwing down his cards as there was no way he was going to win, “He ain’t the only one. Don’t see me makin a big deal about it though. You just gotta get on with life. If you ask me, we’re better off without. Feelins just complicate things.”

Everyone watched as Jayne got up, grabbed his bottle of sake and headed off to his bunk.

“Little boy down the lane is short on wool,” River muttered, making the other four turn to look at each other, identical smiles spreading across their faces.

“Jayne!” Mal barked down his hatch.

“Yeah?” Jayne asked, appearing at the bottom of the ladder.

“How come you ain’t hooked the mule back up like I asked you to?”

“Can’t do it on my own Mal,” he said, hands on his hips, “It’s a two person job and Kaylee was busy so I thought I’d wait till she was free.”

“Zhen mei naixing de Fozu,” Mal muttered under his breath, “That girl’s gotta get her priorities right, else she’ll be needin to find another berth,” he added as he stood up straight, “Right well come on,” he said to Jayne, “I’ll help you.”

Jayne clambered up his ladders to follow a pissed off Mal down to the cargo bay.

“You ain’t really gonna throw her off just cause she’s getting laid are ya?” Jayne asked.

Mal sighed, “Probably not,” he said as he jogged down the stairs, “Don’t mean I don’t wanna though.”

Jayne sighed, “Mal, she of all people deserves to be happy. Leave her be.”

Mal turned and looked at Jayne, more in surprise than anything, “I know that,” he said before turning away sharply and heading over to the mule.

Jayne bit his tongue, knowing that he’d already crossed the line and that if he said anything else that Mal was likely to blow up in his face. And so, he pulled his work gloves on and went to help with the mule.

Working together, it didn’t take long for them to hook it up and secure it to the hoist. Standing on opposite catwalks, Mal held onto his chain as Jayne used the hoist to pull the mule up into place against the roof of the cargo bay. When it stilled, both men reached up and secured their chains, which would help keep it in place should they encounter any turbulence.

As they finished, Mal walked across to the other side to join Jayne as they made their way to the galley, but just as he put his foot on the bottom step, the sound of giggling below them reached his ears. Turning round he saw a bare footed Kaylee running into the cargo bay, followed by a bare footed and shirtless Simon who caught her and pinned her up against some crates. He was just leaning into kiss her when Mal spoke.

“Kaylee!” he shouted, making her and Simon jump apart, “I understand that with all this bein new you two can’t keep your hands off each other. But when it starts interferin with your chores then I gotta put my foot down.”

Kaylee and Simon looked about them, confused.

“You think that mule just flew up there on it’s own?” he asked.

“Oh,” Kaylee said, “Cap’n, I didn’t realise that…”

“Well that’s just it ain’t it. You just ain’t realisin a lot these days ain’t you,” he said, “Get your priorities sorted Kaylee, or else I’ll be sendin you back to your Pa,” he added before about turnin and headin up to the galley.

“He can’t,” Simon said, “I mean, he wouldn’t right?”

“I don’t know,” Kaylee said with a shrug, “He managed to drive Inara off, even the Sheppard.”

“Ain’t no one goin no where,” Jayne said, “Just… try and tone it down for a couple of days,” he added before going to find Mal.

He caught him just as he was heading towards his bunk.

“That weren’t called for Mal,” he said.

“You tryin to tell me what to do on my ship?” Mal asked him.

“No, I’m just sayin, you keep treatin us all like we’re nothin more than replaceable crew to you, then you might just find yourself on your own,” he told him before walking straight past and into his own bunk.

Mal stood and watched him, knowing that what he had said was true, “Since when did he get so wise?” he muttered.

“Jayne?” Zoe asked from behind him, making him jump out of his skin, “He’s always been wise. Wouldn’t have lived this long if he wasn’t. He just don’t have much book smarts.”

Mal sighed and leaned back against the hull, “I suppose you’re comin to chew me out too.”

“No,” she said, “You know that you’ve upset Kaylee and that you should apologise. Ain’t her fault you don’t have anyone to share your bed with, although that could be easily remedied,” she added, nodding her head in the direction of Jayne’s bunk just as the big man crawled back out with his guns and cleaning things.

Mal and Zoe stood in silence as he walked past them, nodding only to Zoe and completely ignoring Mal.

“Jayne?” Mal asked Zoe once the big man was gone.

“No Vera,” Zoe deadpanned, “Of course Jayne.”

“Okay, what the hell have you been smokin?” Mal asked her.

Zoe smiled and shook her head in amusement, “Look Sir, it’s no secret that you need some… companionship, and you ain’t got much choice here now do you? It’s either a mentally unstable eighteen year old, which I would probably have to shoot you for, or Jayne,” she told him, giving him a small smile before going to find her husband.

Mal waited until she was on the bridge before turning to look into the galley where Jayne was sitting. He watched as he picked up his whetstone and spat on it. Trying not to vomit, Mal about turned and lowered himself into his bunk. Zoe was clearly deranged. Jayne? He wasn’t even sly.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Two days later and they were all standing in the cargo bay, awaiting the return of Jayne so that they could go start work on the job they’d just been handed.

“Where the hell is Jayne?!” Mal asked as he came down from the bridge.

“Not sure sir,” Zoe said, “Probably at the whore house.”

Mal sighed, “Fine, wait here. I’ll go get him.”

“I’m sure he’ll be back soon,” Kaylee said, hoping that Mal didn’t rip him a new one just for getting himself laid.

“Yeah, and he should’ve been back a half hour ago,” Mal said, stomping down the ramp to go find Jayne.

There was only one whorehouse here on Persephone that Jayne wasn’t barred from and so Mal headed straight for it. When he got inside he headed straight over to the Mistress of the house and handed her a large bill, “Lookin for Jayne Cobb,” he said.

“And you would be?” she asked him, looking him up and down.

“His boss. He’s late for a job.”

The mistress smiled, “Down the hall, second on the left,” she told him, putting the note down her bosom.

Mal nodded his thanks and went off down the hall to find Jayne. When he got to the second door on the left he cringed as he could hear the distinct sound of Jayne grunting. But knowing that they had to be in the air as soon as possible, he pushed the door open anyway.

“Jayne, get your hairy pigu…” Mal stopped, lost for words as he took in the sight of Jayne’s extremely unhairy and rather attractive pigu humping that of a skinny little yanse lang.

“Mal?” Jayne asked, scrambling off the boy underneath him and pulling up his pants, “What the hell?”

“Uh…” Mal struggled to drag his eyes away from the male whore, who was really very pretty and look Jayne in the eye, “Got a job,” he finally said quietly, “And you’re late.”

“Oh. Right. Sorry,” Jayne said, pulling his t-shirt back on and grabbing his guns, “I’ll uh… I’ll be right there.”

Mal nodded, “Right,” he said about turning and leaving Jayne to finish getting dressed.

“You still gotta pay full amount,” the whore said as he sat up and grabbed his underwear, “Ain’t my fault if your boyfriend burst in.”

Jayne froze, a huge frown on his face as he counted the money, “He ain’t my boyfriend,” he said, throwing the money at the whore.

The whore just smiled as Jayne stomped out, “Not yet anyway,” he said to himself as Jayne’s hulking form disappeared down the hall.

“Let’s go then,” Jayne said as he stepped out of the whore house and found Mal waiting on him.

“You never said you was sly before,” Mal said as they started walking back to the ship.

“Didn’t see how it was anyone’s business,” Jayne grunted.

“It’s not. Just… surprising is all,” Mal said, his eyes travelling up and down Jayne’s body.

“Yeah well, not like you ever told anyone you was sly neither,” Jayne said, making Mal spin to stare up at him, “Don’t give me that look Mal,” Jayne told him, “I know a sly fella when I see one,” he added before pushing past him and towards the docks.

Mal shook his head in utter confusion, what the hell was happening to the world?

~*~*~*~*~*~

After having seen Jayne ‘in action’ so to speak, Mal hadn’t known how to act around him. The very fact that he knew Mal was sly and yet made no mention of it to the others had him on edge, waiting for it to be used against him. And then there was the fact that he now knew that Jayne was sly, that he enjoyed the company of men. Would he enjoy Mal’s company? Mal would certainly enjoy his, but then he’d enjoy anybody’s company… and then there was that, that stopped him from being able to relax around Jayne. He was beginning to have not so captainy feelings towards his merc, which he knew, would only lead to disaster.

“Everything alright sir?” Zoe asked him one evening as he sat up on the bridge, lost in thoughts about Jayne and just what the hell was going to happen, if anything happened.

“Yeah, shiny,” he said with a slight nod, “Why?”

“Oh I don’t know,” she said with a smile as she sat down in the co-pilot’s seat, “It’s just you’ve not been your usual self. Not for about a week now.”

“What do you mean?” Mal asked in confusion, “I’ve very much been myself.”

“Well you’ve stopped barkin at Kaylee and Simon every time you see them,” she said, “And you’ve stopped spending time with Jayne, cleanin guns, or playin cards or what ever it is you two do.”

“Me and Jayne don’t do nothin,” he blurted out, feeling a little bit panicked.

“Really?” she asked with a smirk, “Let me guess, you found out he was sly right?”

“How did you?”

“Me and Wash saw him a while back with a male whore. Never spoke to him about it though. Figured he’d tell us all in his own time,” she explained.

“Yeah well. It’s just, a lot to let sink in,” he said, “I mean, this is Jayne we’re talking about here. Big, manly, muscular, extremely heterosexual Jayne.”

“Big, manly and muscular?” Zoe asked.

“What? He is. Ain’t like I’m stating a lie.”

“Oh I know, it’s just… can’t help thinkin that with you bein sly yourself that maybe you and Jayne…”

“Zoe, stop that thought right there,” Mal told her, “There ain’t no me and Jayne. Never has been, never will be,” he added as he looked over his shoulder to see if anyone was within hearing distance.

Zoe smiled, “He knows your sly Mal. We all do. Ain’t like it’s a secret. I mean sure things got confusin there with the whole Inara thing, but I think most of us realise that the problem was on her end, not yours.”

Mal snapped his head round to look at her, “How do you all know?”

Zoe snorted, “It’s blatantly obvious, that’s how,” she said before standing up, “I’m just sayin, think about it. It can get awful lonely out here in the black. Maybe a little companionship would do you good.”

And with that she left him on his own with his thoughts, both of them unaware of the hulking figure underneath them, counting ammo and listening to every word that had been spoken about him.

So Zoe thought he would be good for Mal, that Mal would be good for him? Huh. He had to admit though, it wasn’t exactly the craziest thing he’d heard.

“Hey Jayne,” Kaylee said as she came into the galley, “What you still doin up?”

“Can’t sleep,” he said, leaning against the work top and staring down into his mug, “You?”

Kaylee grinned, “Ain’t been to sleep yet,” she said, “Just gettin me and Simon a drink of water.”

Jayne snorted in amusement as he stared at the cooling liquid of his tea. Kaylee grabbed a couple of glasses and then paused as she noticed the look on his face.

“Okay, what’s wrong?” she asked, putting the glasses down.

Jayne sighed, “Ain’t nothin wrong,” he said throwing the contents of his mug down the sink and instead turning to grab some sake out his locker.

“The hell it ain’t,” Kaylee said taking the bottle off him and escorting him over to the seats in the corner, “Talk.”

“Won’t the Doc be missin you?” he asked, trying not to look at her.

“He’ll probably be asleep by now,” she said, folding her arms across her chest, “Now tell me what’s wrong. And don’t say nothin, you’ve been mopin about here like a love sick puppy for the past five days… oh.”

“Oh?” Jayne asked, his head snapping up, “What do you mean oh?”

“I mean oh, as in ‘Oh you are a love sick puppy’,” she explained with a triumphant smile.

“Am not,” he tried to deny.

Kaylee just raised an eyebrow at him.

“Okay,” Jayne sighed, slumping back in his seat, “The other week when Mal came to get me from the whore house he kinda walked in on me while I was doin my business,” he explained.

“So, he found out you’re sly?” she asked.

“Yeah. Apparently he didn’t know. I thought everyone knew. Came as a bit of a surprise to me that out of everyone, he was the last to pick up on it.”

“Don’t take it personally, he tends to walk about with his head up his pigu most of the time,” she told him.

“Well that’s just it,” Jayne said, “Now his head is firmly out of his ass and well, it’s as if he’s just noticed me for the first time.”

“What do you mean?”

“He keeps watchin me, everythin I do. And well, he’s been keeping his distance too, as if he’s scared I’m gonna try hittin on him or somethin,” he said, “It wasn’t really botherin me before. I mean, I was probably just imaginin it is all. But then the other day when I was countin ammo, I heard him and Zoe up on the bridge.”

“So?” she asked, it wasn’t like it was somethin new for him to be listenin in on Mal and Zoe’s conversations.

“They was talkin about me,” he said, “Zoe was telling Mal that… she thinks we would be good together. As a couple.”

Well that wasn’t a surprise to Kaylee at all, after all she had sat in this very corner and had a discussion with Zoe on that exact subject.

“And what do you think?” she asked him.

“I dunno,” he said with a heavy sigh, “I mean, he’s swai enough and we get on well enough. But I don’t think it’s what he wants,” he added.

Kaylee frowned, “What makes you think that?”

“Cause he’s still avoidin me. He won’t sit and clean his guns with me, or play cards with me or spot me when I’m working out. He’s keeping his distance.”

“Could be he doesn’t want you to feel like he’s just showin an interest in you now that he knows your sly,” Kaylee suggested.

“Well that don’t make no sense,” Jayne said with a frown.

“And since when did anythin Mal does ever make sense?” she asked.

Jayne smiled slightly, “That is true.”

“Look Jayne, I’m good at reading people. Always have been. I mean, when you first came on board, remember how Mal warned you to keep your hands to yourself and not even think about tryin it on with me?”

“Yeah?”

“Well I knew then that it was all for nothin, that you wouldn’t be tryin to bed me anyways. I knew you were sly. So trust me when I say to you that Mal’s interested in you. He just doesn’t want you to think he’s takin advantage, but most of all, he’s just scared of letting someone in. He doesn’t want to get hurt.”

“I wouldn’t hurt him,” Jayne said, “Not deliberately anyway.”

“I know. And I think deep down he knows that too. He just needs some reassurance is all.”

“Reassurance?” he asked as Kaylee stood back up.

“You have to make the first move,” she told him, bending down and placing a kiss on his head before pouring herself her water and disappearing to bed.

Jayne sat where he was. He had to make the first move? How the hell was he going to get Mal close enough to do that?

~*~*~*~*~*~

“So Mal,” Jayne said as everyone headed out into the sunshine for the afternoon, “You plannin on doin anythin?”

Mal turned to look at the big man. Ever since his little chat with Zoe a week ago, two weeks since he’d walked in on Jayne, he hadn’t been able to get the idea of beddin him out of his head. And now, standing in the sunshine, he was looking more swai than ever.

“Uh no. Was just gonna go clean my guns or somethin, why?” he asked.

Jayne stood back, allowing Zoe and Wash to walk arm in arm past them, both of them trying to hide their knowing smiles.

“Well, I seen a creek not far from here when we flew over earlier. Was gonna go take a look, maybe go for a swim. You wanna come?” he asked, trying not to appear too eager, “I mean, it’s got to beat stayin here and cleanin guns right?”

“Uh…” Mal stared, not really knowing how to answer that.

“It’s alright,” Jayne nodded, “Thought you would say no. I’ll see you in a bit,” he added as he turned and headed down the ramp.

“Jayne wait,” Mal said running after him, “That’d be shiny,” he said, hoping that he wasn’t grinning too much.

Jayne smiled back before turning and leading the way. Knowing that Simon, Kaylee and River were staying within the general vicinity of the ship, Mal quickly followed him not even bothering to tell the others where he was going. But then, River probably already knew.

It took them about ten minutes to find the creek. There was a wooden fence in their way, obviously built to keep any stray cattle out of the water. Both men easily climbed over it and stared out at the creek, the afternoon sun beating down on it and making all kinds of pretty colours bounce off the water’s surface.

“Right, well I guess we can’t go swimin with our clothes on,” Jayne said, pulling off his t-shirt.

“Uh, yeah,” Mal said, trying not to drool at the sight of Jayne’s strong chest.

Jayne quickly undressed, Mal slowly following him and both of them hanging their clothes over the fence. Mal was just lowering his pants when a completely naked Jayne grinned at him and all but jumped into the water.

Mal shook his head in amusement, “It cold?” he asked, debating about whether to take his underwear off.

“Only one way to find out,” Jayne yelled at him before ducking under the water and swimming away from the bank.

Deciding that it would look a bit stupid if he wore his underwear while Jayne was naked, Mal slipped it off and threw it on top of the fence with the rest of his clothes. Stepping to the water’s edge, he took a deep breath, preparing himself for the coldness when suddenly, Jayne resurfaced in front of him, grabbed his ankle and pulled him in.

Mal quickly pushed himself up, gasping for air as he surfaced, “What the hell Jayne?” he asked, glad that the water wasn’t as cold as he had been expecting. In fact, it was pleasantly warm.

Jayne though, just chuckled at him, making Mal smile slightly.

“You’re gonna pay for that,” Mal said to him.

“Oh really?” Jayne asked.

“Yes, really.”

“Well I guess you’ll need to catch me first won’t ya?” Jayne said before ducking to the side and swimming away, splashing Mal in the face as he did so.

“Oh it is on Cobb,” Mal said, diving under the water and chasing after him.

Jayne had swam about ten yards away from Mal before turning to see if he was close behind him at all. But he didn’t see him anywhere. Frowning in confusion, he just had time to realise that he must be underneath the water, before something swam right into him, pulling him below the surface.

Jayne struggled slightly, trying to break free of Mal’s grasp until he saw the smile on his face. The sun beams were piercing through the water and hitting Mal’s body in such a way that he looked like a God and Jayne was unable to resist. Instead of using his grip on Mal’s shoulders to push him away, he pulled him close, planting a soft kiss on his lips.

Mal blinked slightly in surprise before pushing up to get a gulp of air, pulling Jayne with him.

As soon as his face was out of the water, Mal’s lips were on his again, his arms wrapping round him and pulling him close. So concentrated as they were on each other’s mouths, they were unable to keep themselves afloat and fell back under the water.

Jayne wrapped his arms around Mal, letting his hands slide down the smooth skin of his back, while Mal cupped his face with one hand, the other holding on tight to his hip. They turned and floated through the water, kissing each other so passionately that they both nearly forgot to break for air.

When they resurfaced again, they loosened the grip slightly but didn’t drift very far from each other, both of them pushing forward for the odd kiss, smiling into each other’s mouths as they did so.

“You really want this?” Mal asked Jayne.

“Yup,” Jayne nodded, leaning in for another kiss, his hand travelling down to cup Mal’s ass slightly.

“I ain’t just talkin about sex Jayne,” Mal told him, trying to withstand the power of Jayne’s kisses.

“I know,” Jayne said, kissing him again.

“I mean all of me. It’s all or nothin Jayne. You still want it?”

“Mal?” Jayne asked, pulling back and staring hard at him, cupping his face in his big rough hand.

“Yeah?” Mal asked quietly scared of what Jayne was going to say.

“I want you. All of you,” he told him, making Mal smile and pulling him into another hard kiss that had them falling under the water again.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Mal and Jayne didn’t get back to the ship until just before sundown. As they approached the ship, they could see the others sitting at the bottom of the ramp, enjoying the last rays of sunshine as they ate their food and drank some of Kaylee’s fine engine hooch.

Walking hand in hand they approached the others.

“How was the creek?” Wash asked with a huge grin.

“Interesting,” Mal said, dropping Jayne’s hand and letting him walk up the ramp, unable to take his eyes off him as he did so.

“Somethin you want to tell us Cap’n?” Kaylee asked him.

As Jayne disappeared up the stairs, Mal turned to her, “Yeah, best get us in the air if we’re to make our rendezvous.”

“Anythin else?” Zoe asked.

Mal stared right at her, biting down on his lip to stop him from grinning like a mad man, “If y’all need me, I’ll be in Jayne’s bunk,” he told them before following Jayne up the ramp and up the stairs.

“Pay up husband,” Zoe said, holding out her hand.

“You too Doctor Tam,” Kaylee added, holding out her own hand.

Both men rolled their eyes and fished into their pockets to pay the women the money they owed them, ignoring River’s giggling.

“What happened to ‘what’s mine is yours’?” Wash asked.

“If that’s the case, you shouldn’t be so upset about parting with your money, now give.”

When Mal reached the corridor above Jayne’s bunk, he took a deep breath. He couldn’t quite believe what was happening. He was about to go down into Jayne’s bunk and let him bed him. And sure, they had fooled around a bit down at the creek, but by sleeping with him, they would cross a line and there would be no return.

“Will you quit thinkin so much?”

Mal snapped his head up to see Jayne’s head poking out the hatch to his bunk.

“Sorry, I just…”

“I know,” Jayne interrupted, “But standin there on your own lettin all those thoughts creep in ain’t gonna do anyone any good. So get your butt in here before I drag you down.”

Mal smiled and stepped forward, following Jayne down into his bunk. When he reached the bottom, Jayne pinned him up against the ladders and kissed him softly before reaching up to lock the door. Mal then wrapped his arms around Jayne’s neck pulling him down into a deep kiss.

Jayne settled his hands on Mal’s hips, letting them wander round to stroke his back through his shirt. When they broke apart, Jayne buried his face in the crook of Mal’s neck, breathing in his scent.

“You smell like sunshine,” he said when he brought his face back up.

“I wonder why that could be,” Mal said with a small smile.

Jayne smiled and stepped away, and went to sit on his bed. It was then that Mal noticed that he’d taken his gunbelt off again and that his boots were over sitting in the corner next to his chair. Seeing him sitting there, pants hanging low on his hips, bare feet tucked under him, Mal couldn’t help but feel his jiba spring to life.

Kicking his own boots off, he quickly unfastened his gun belt and set it down on the crate that Jayne used as a table and made his way over to him, shrugging his suspenders off as he did so.

Jayne took Mal’s hand and straightened out his legs, allowing Mal to straddle his thighs. He smiled up at him before pulling him down into a deep kiss. Mal rested one of his hands on Jayne’s shoulder, the other cupping his jaw and tenderly kissed him.

Jayne brought his hands up from Mal’s hips to his waist, tugging at his shirt and pulling it from his pants, his hands immediately sneaking under the material to stroke over his warm, sun kissed skin. Pulling back from the kiss, Mal took hold of his shirt, pulling it up and over his head, not even bothering with the buttons. He let it drop onto the floor before kissing Jayne again, his own hands gripping at the hem of Jayne’s t-shirt to yank over his head.

Once they were both in their pants, Jayne held on tight to Mal and turned, settling Mal down onto the bed with Jayne hovering above him. Jayne smiled, placing a soft kiss on Mal’s lips before he began to trail downwards. He kissed all the way down his neck and chest, paying close attention to his nipples before moving lower. He held onto his hips as he dragged his tongue across the skin just above the waistband of his pants.

Mal began to pant, needing to feel more. Luckily, Jayne wasn’t going to keep him waiting and deftly unfastened his pants, pulling both them and his underwear off his hips and down his legs to drop at the bottom of the bed. Settling himself back over Mal again, he placed a kiss on his hip, his thigh and then on the base of his diao.

Mal let out a deep breath and watched intently as Jayne licked all the way up and all the way back down again before raising his head and taking him deep into his mouth. Letting his head fall back onto the pillow, Mal closed his eyes and let the sensation of Jayne’s mouth on him wash over him.

Although Jayne was sucking on him hard, he was being more gentle than Mal had thought was possible and it was driving him wild. Reaching down he took hold of one of Jayne’s hands, threading their fingers together and watched as Jayne’s head bobbed up and down. Watching him, Mal had to admit, he looked so gorram pretty, the dull overhead light making his tanned skin glow.

Using his free hand to fondle Mal’s balls gently, Jayne looked up, his eyes connecting with Mal’s and seeing untamed heat radiating from them. It turned him on so much more than anythin else he’d seen that day and so he lowered his head once more, speeding up his movements slightly, Mal bucking up into his mouth before exploding down Jayne’s throat.

Jayne swallowed him all down, making sure not to spill a drop before slowly crawling his way back up Mal’s body, kissing and licking at his skin as he went. When he reached the top of the bed, he pulled Mal into a soft kiss, smiling into his mouth.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Mal nodded, his own smile on is lips, “Better than okay. But we seem to have a slight problem,” he added.

Jayne frowned, “What kind of problem?”

“The kind where you’ve still got your pants on,” Mal said with a grin, tugging at Jayne’s pants, “Off now,” he told him.

Jayne grinned and sat up, unfastening his pants and pushing them off his hips, kicking them off the rest of the way as he fell back down on top of Mal.

Mal smiled and wrapped his arms around Jayne, pulling him into a kiss as he turned them onto their sides. Jayne gently thrust against him, his hand travelling down Mal’s back to his ass. He gently pushed a finger between his cheeks and skimmed it over his opening. Mal moaned slightly at the feeling, flexing his hips slightly to encourage Jayne’s exploration.

“Lie down,” Jayne said, pushing on Mal’s shoulder to get him to lie on his stomach. He gave Mal one more soft kiss before disappearing behind him.

Mal propped himself up on his elbows, looking over his shoulder and watching as Jayne licked his way up his thighs, over the globes of his ass and up his back, placing a chaste kiss on his lips before licking his way back down again.

Sucking on his fingers quickly, Jayne began to tease the entrance to Mal’s body as he continued to leave a trail of saliva all the way down his back.

“Made,” Mal gasped, his entire body shuddering in anticipation, begging for Jayne to push into him.

Jayne didn’t give him quite what he wanted though, instead continuing to tease Mal, his mouth travelling back over his ass and down to his thigh again, making Mal squirm.

“Jayne,” Mal panted.

“Hmm?” Jayne asked, his mouth too busy to actually form any proper words.

“I need to feel you,” he said, “Please?”

Jayne looked up at him and decided to relent. He dragged his tongue up one more time and sat back on his heels, “You sure?” he asked, reaching under the mattress to pull out some lube.

“Oh I’m positive,” Mal told him, watching closely as Jayne began to lube himself up. Okay, so maybe that was the prettiest gorram thing he’d ever seen.

When he was ready, Jayne squirted some more lube onto his hand and began to spread it over Mal, pushing his fingers inside him to ensure that he was well prepared. When Mal began to push back onto his hand, he knew that he was ready and removed it, lining the head of his diao up against him instead and slowly pushed inside.

Mal groaned, welcoming Jayne into his body.

“Tianna,” Jayne gasped as Mal clenched his muscles around him. He continued to push in, only stopping once he couldn’t go any further.

Falling forward, he rested on his elbows, either side of Mal’s body and placed a soft kiss on his shoulder. Mal turned his head and Jayne bent forward, capturing his lips with his own. Jayne kissed him passionately before he slowly began to move his hips.

Gasping, Mal broke from the kiss, unable to carry on kissing Jayne and breathing at the same time. Jayne though didn’t pull back, resting his chin on Mal’s shoulder, their breath mingling with each other’s as they moved together.

Thrusting slowly, Jayne concentrated on finding that sweet spot inside Mal, unwilling to speed up until he did. Lowering himself slightly and flicking his hips upward more, he soon found it, Mal groaning loudly and his entire body shaking as Jayne’s diao brushed off of it. Once he had found Mal’s prostate, Jayne began to speed up slightly, his long thrusts coming in quicker and harder, eliciting the most delightful sounds from Mal as well as some choice cusses. But all it did was make Jayne smile and spur him on.

Feeling another orgasm building, Mal did his best to push back onto Jayne, hoping to bring him along with him. He grabbed his hands and held them close to his chest, forcing Jayne to lie down on top of him, every inch of his chest connecting with Mal’s back.

Jayne kissed Mal’s shoulder again and along his neck before pulling him into another kiss. Mal melted into the kiss, and unable to pull away Mal gasped into his mouth as his body shook with another orgasm. As he was overcome with pleasure, he felt Jayne’s chest rumbling against his back, groaning as his own orgasm washed through him.

Finally pulling apart, Jayne smiled as he let his head fall down onto Mal’s shoulder. He took a couple of minutes to get his breath before finally pulling out of Mal and moving to lie down beside him. Mal turned to face him, kissing him gently before pulling back to smile at him.

“What?” Jayne asked, stroking Mal’s hair and pushing it out of his eyes.

“Nothin, I just… I don’t think I’ll ever be able to let you go.”

Jayne chuckled slightly, “Good, cause I won’t be happy if you do.”

Smiling Mal allowed Jayne to kiss him once more before wrapping his arms around him. Jayne kissed him on the head before pulling his throw off the wall and covering them both in it. As he felt himself drifting off to sleep, Mal couldn’t help but believe that maybe, just maybe with Jayne he would finally get to experience what it was like to have love. Maybe.
