Thank you so much! :) Especially for saying it makes you want to cry - it's nice to deal with DH through a cat's eyes as I thought things would be simple from his POV: they're either good or bad. But then when I realised how much bad there was going on at that time... I wanted him to start to bond with Andromeda and for her to sound similar to Sirius: another proud person who needed help.

You don't know how worried I was that the names would seem silly, but Hermyonly was almost my first idea for the fic, and then it couldn't be the only one. After finding them very difficult to type to begin with, they almost became normal-sounding so I fear Tinks and Reemuss may inadvertently pop up again!

This is lovely. I love that Crookshanks found a home with Remus/Tonks and Andromeda. How sad it will be when he loses R&T, too.

Thank you! :) I gave Crookshanks the start of a bond with Andromeda - trying to make her sound a little like Sirius, another proud person who needed help due to his circumstances - because we know how this will end. I thought at least they'd have each other. But hopefully we all switch to AU long before that! ;)

I've been looking forward to reading this ever since you first mentioned that you were thinking about writing something from Crookshanks's point of view! I love what you've done with his characterization, making him very much a cat (well, okay, a Kneazle) but very perceptive, all at the same time. He really does get the measure of people -- like with "Mrs. W" meaning well, and the twins not necessarily being kind, and "Mrs. T" being proud and not wanting to let on that she could use some help. I'm glad Crookshanks appreciated Ginny and her butterbeer corks (that's a nod to canon, isn't it?). And I'm glad he remembers "Serious," even though it means he knows grief ( ... )

I am a horrible person who has taken far too long to say Thank You for this - I'm sorry! My Crookshanks owes a debt or two to our cat Rosie, another ginger feline who weighed people up quickly and was almost impossible to dissuade once set upon a course of action. Crookshanks and Hermione seem to have such a bond that I thought it would have to be something pretty good to convince him he was needed somewhere other than by her side. Of course this tied in with Remus, who, albeit for different reasons, had also refused to recognise where he was needed most during DH ( ... )

OK, I did a double-take when I noted it was from Crookshanks' POV, but, wow, yes, adds more to the story. LUV the convo between Remus and Crookshanks. Brilliant....but that shouldn't surprise me anymore. Thank you for sharing.

It was almost too much fun being in a cat's head - and it does help get past some of the roll of human misery that is DH at this time! I did wonder though how it would come across so it's really nice to hear you enjoyed it. The Remus conversation was one I had in mind from the start as he was the last person to see Hermione, and must have brought back the last info anyone had on the Trio for the Order.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. And nice to see you here! :)

Yes, Crookshanks POV!! One of my favorite things. (Actually not kidding there.)

Great little cat POV bits (like "If only they used their noses instead they’d save so much time"), and of course Crookshanks' assessment of people's characters is wonderful ("that Harry Potter who also doesn’t know when to sit down and have a nap").

I love how both Remus and Tonks give Crookshanks the benefit of the doubt and talk to him with the assumption he can understand, and let him make his own choices.

Crookshanks' identification with Sirius is beautiful ("He was like me, he just wanted to be needed") and I'm SO glad you put Crookshanks and Andromeda together like this, to comfort each other.

I was going to say I can recommend being in a cat's head as the best kind of writing fun, but was delighted to see you've obviously discovered that for yourself!

I'd had an idea for Crookshanks' fic for a while, and was set on this particular time in DH, but then I realized how much was going on and how none of it was good news for R/T and Co. But it seemed things would either be good or bad from Crookshanks' POV, and hopefully the somewhat light-hearted thoughts of a feline mind don't sound too jarring.

If R/T's fate is gut-wrenching, then Andromeda's gets me even more; I liked the idea of her and Crookshanks needing each other. Both get left behind and both need a friend. I like to think there are some parallels with the way he understood and aided Sirius: both proud people who you don't imagine easily ask for help from other people, but who might find it easier to talk to a cat.

Many thanks for the kind words. :)
