Recommendation #11

Title: Ink: An Epistolary Romance
Author: Pirate Perian (a.k.a thunderemerald)
Rating: PG-13

Reason for rec: There are many perfectly good R/T stories out there that are very nice, but - when all is said and done - are rather like... well, all the other perfectly good R/T stories. Another thing I find (although this is by no means restricted to R/T) is that ( Read more... )

humor, romance, pg-13

Oh man, I was thinking about this one today - I love this story! It's so brillant and lovely, and sexually charged. Just absolutely lovely, in every way, and needs to be rec'd more often.

There is a real frisson of sexual tension isn't there?! I didn't really mention that, but you're absolutely right. It definitely deserves some recognition.

It's been around a while, but I think it deserved a new audience... Of course, this is assuming that anyone hadn't read it already, but it wasn't on any of the rec lists I checked so there's a good chance :)

I hadn't seen this one before, and I really enjoyed it. I like how they become so comfortable with each other "in ink"; and I love the tension that develops between the enormity of what they've been writing to each other and their inability to acknowledge it in person. It's very realistic, and I've experienced it with email communication versus face to face meetings. It's so interesting to see this concept played out in a RL/NT fanfic!

Thanks for letting me know that you were new to the fic - it's really helpful (for my rec strategy, at least) if I know I'm not completely going over stuff that everyone's heard of :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I found the concept you mentioned a really interesting aspect of the fic, too; it is quite a bizarre thing to get to 'know' someone via email etc. before meeting them (even if the rise of internet culture is making this a little more common), and I thought thunderemerald captured it very well.
