I can't quite tell if Felix is now a vampire or something much, much worse. This has the feeling of a history being retold.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to see you write this piece and so happy that Gary let you post. This is super duper creepy and the creepiness is borne of your skill. The set up, the internalizations of Felix, and all the speculative and unanswered questions of the reader. NICE job!

Looks as if you did quite a bit of research in writing this creepy tail. I thought at first it would be the story of a simple student, and never imagined the bats would be more than an incidental part of it.

Though what compels a man to make a "battery" seems as mysterious as much of what came about here. To attract bats on purpose... yes, something dark may very well be at work there.
