She Takes To the Road

She zips up the bag and slings it over her shoulder wishing she had some whiskey to wash down the regret. She grabs her felt hat and resists looking over her shoulder as she heads out the door; tying her bandanna around her wrist and tightening the knot with her teeth.

These are compelling vignettes of road life. You had some really poetic lines here! These two, in particular, leapt out at me - wishing she had some whiskey to wash down the regret. and She sends postcards to the addresses scribbled on the inside cover of her notebook. Dropping them in postboxes like sowing seeds she will never get to see flower.

The ending to this was lovely and poetic, and the wanderlust-- the urge to see and be-- came through really clearly here.:)

I like the way this plays because it's like postcards from the road, snippets of scenes, a glimpse of a photograph, a bit of writing or a caption and poof, on to the next. It's road endorphins!
