I love your style of world-building: fantastical yet familiar, guiding yet not overly expository. I was thoroughly enthralled by Sonia's plight and would happily read more and more!

This is another way to approach the dilemma - try to find a way to save everyone. I love that you ended this as a cliffhanger.

So many people to save, so little time and power! Helping that last woman, in that moment, was hopeless, but there is still time for someone to heal her if the train she's on doesn't crash.

Protector or not, dangling off of a screaming train heading toward disaster is an unnerving situation, and you brought out the tension well.
