How I became insecure about posting fic

I've made a few false starts at trying to write out this story and I've told bits and pieces of it before, mostly in tiny comments over Twitter, but I haven't told the whole thing to anyone, not even my closest friends. I didn't want - and still don't want - anyone to tell me my feelings are wrong or give me advice. While I might be able to manage

I like your writing and I think you're pretty cool, if that helps. I don't really know why people feel the need to get together and anonymously wank over things they didn't like but whatever floats their boat. Similarly, if it's fic about people or subjects in which I don't have any real interest I don't read them because why take on that burden? But, you know what, when it's from someone worth reading like you, I'd probably give it a go anyway because good writing is good writing.
