Let's Party All Night Long (or at least until 9pm Pacific)

If I were the kind of person to have icons, one of them would be Bart Simpson jumping around the screen yelling, "Pay attention to me!" (Quick googling tells me it's from "Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy," but I couldn't find video of just that bit in the two minutes I allotted to said googling.) Anyway, I am combining this with my happiness commandment to ( Read more... )

asking, goings on in my head, life on lj, happiness

Friday nights on the internet are always boring! And I already wrote my hundred-odd words of Regency Romance for the day, and GoogleDocs won't load the golf AU right now, so I'm extra bored.

Today I decided that were I to write an epilogue-type sequel to the golf AU before actually finishing the actual story, it would totally be Nick fucking Caleb at The Barclays, under hurricane watch. With a plethora of storm metaphors, probably. And then I was like, "Self, the hurricane hasn't even hit yet. TOO SOON." (The championship is in New Jersey, so they canceled Sunday's rounds in anticipation of Irene.) Plus, if I don't know how the story ends, I can't write an epilogue anyway!

I have not written anything today, because Friday is my day off. I'm feeling kind of itchy about it, but also kind of like I don't want to write anything. The worst part is that I'm way too cranky to be reading fic. You, however, might try the Brendon/Spencer robot story that was posted today. I haven't, and probably won't unless I hear good things about it elsewhere, so I have no idea if it's your kind of robot thing.

I would read it! It could be an alternate epilogue if it turns out the story doesn't work toward it. Also, this is always what happens to me. I start writing something in my head and then I write more and more of it, and then I get to a point where I'm done and then there doesn't seem to be any point in writing it down because now I don't care about the beginning part. (Alternately, I don't want to do the work to write a real story and don't feel like writing down just the good parts anyway.)

Robots! I'll try it after I write my bit of the golf AU, now that it's finally loaded.

Yourdaily dose of Channing and Jamie being bromantical. (No videos!)

That was the other thing I was going to say: does Google Docs seem like it's getting slower?

Are they arm wrestling? Does Jamie really think he has a chance? (My favorite is the one on the top left.)

Yessss, so great!

Gif: Oh, Gerard, every time I see a picture of you, you look more like the Northern European punk girl I used to be friends with.

Thing you will appreciate: my yoga class is through the local rec department, so I get their catalog of classes. I was skimming through it, and new this fall is "Playtime for Adults," which has the following description:Would you like to forget trying to be a responsible adult for about 2 1/2 hours once a month? This is an opportunity to freely and uninhibitedly PLAY as the 4-5 year old inside you. We'll do this with art projects, play dough or clay, movement games, dress-up & story time. WHY WOULD AN ADULT WANT TO DO THIS? Well, you might discover how really creative you are. You may become a better parent or grandparent, you will definitely feel less stressed, AND you just might start to slow down and smile.
My first thought was, "Ageplay. Kinky."

I just realized that the thing I want to do for kink_bingo technically fulfills the prompt but doesn't seem terribly kinky. I am displeased.

I have this vague memory of something during the surveyfail thing being a kink_bingo letter that said there was a political element to kink_bingo around the idea of what is kink/what is vanilla. It might fit just fine! Although I know what you mean - I keep finding myself writing things that are interesting to write, but not necessarily the kind of thing that people might want to read when they go looking for that variety of sex. Also, I keep reading things and thinking, "Oh, sex, whatever, now this character bit is really interesting."

I'm just annoyed at trying to *~grow as a writer~* or whatever and failing because I suck (no pun intended) at porn.

:/ Growing as a writer is hard. Is the kink bingo an exercise in stretching, or are you stretching within that framework?

I'm tired, but so far, I've done really fantastically in my school-work!! This makes me so fucking happy I can't even stand it. I've gotten 4 100%s on math things, WHICH IS AMAZING.

And on Monday, I'm going to call my therapy office to see about switching to a different therapist.

Also, I'm slowly getting back to being involved in an old fanfic site (the one who got me started and slowly taught me how to write!) and they're letting me put Empires on the site. SO I'M VERY DELIGHTED BY THIS TURN OF EVENTS.

Yay to all of that! \o/

One of the things I find fascinating about fandom is how you see the same people over and over again in different fandoms.

I'm excited to go about pimping them out and getting back into the swing of things, because I'm really looking forward to the distraction. Even though I'm debating about dropping out of the zombie bang. Not because I can't finish, but my school's way more important right now. (I mean, okay, I'm still writing on it, but I don't see myself making the deadline, unfortunately.)

If it helps, I am totally in favor of dropping out of things over forcing an ending that doesn't work. Sometimes other things get priority!
