Fic Likes and Dislikes
I loved sionnain's description of inlovewithnight's likes and dislikes, partly because it's not all what I would have expected based on inlovewithnight's writing. I'm not signing up for any exchanges (too many other projects, plus friends are working on talking me into NaNo), but it was so interesting to read that I thought it would be fun to do. Here are my fic likes and dislikes. Tell me yours!
Likes: Clothes sharing, d/s, women, relationships between equals (and yet d/s; it's like a less complicated romance/erotica version of a koan), space AUs, people being smart, soulbonding and other variations on meant to be, they have to get married, they have to touch, cuddling, happy endings, kids and babies, snappy dialogue, people who are practically married before the romance/sex (especially if they're oblivious to how together they are), slowly developing relationships.
Dislikes: Embarrassment (especially teenage embarrassment), misogyny, Mike calling Kevin "kid," historical AUs based on actual history (fake historical AUs, like regency romances where same-sex marriage is just as respectable as opposite-sex marriage, are awesome), randomly inconsistent pov, abrupt endings, an overabundance of teenage angst, first person, vegans eating meat (literal meat; euphemistic meat is fine, and cocksucking jokes are encouraged).
Brief Analysis: I apparently really like intimacy on a non-sexual level. And space. My dislikes are a little more of a hodgepodge of annoyances, but the theme of the things that seem to group together is that I don't like anything that's going to make me feel anxious or full of dread while reading.
