‘What are you doing?’
Sirius stared at Remus, with mouth gaping he was sure. He was standing on the back step with no cloak, covered in snow and his face turned to the sky, tongue sticking out of his mouth.
Remus, apparently refusing to put his tongue back in his mouth, uttered something that sounded like, ‘Wass id lud lide?’ Sirius bit back a laugh and wondered if there might be a camera lost in the depths of the house that he could summon.
‘Looks like a middle-aged man who’s gone and lost any sense of propriety he once had.’
Remus righted himself and grinned. ‘Propriety?’ He settled himself down on the step. ‘I lost that somewhere between your complete lack of modesty and James’ lack of any sense regarding which questions he should and shouldn’t ask mid first year, if I remember correctly.’
‘Fair point.’ Sirius sat down next to him and dug for his wand. He cast a warming charm around the both of them.
‘Have you really never tried catching snow on your tongue?’
Sirius bumped Remus’ shoulder with his own. ‘Don’t be daft. Of course I have. Just didn’t expect to come out here this morning and find you. Let alone find you acting out the part of the small child. That’s my job.’
‘Can’t let you have all the fun.’
‘Hrmph.’
Remus routed in his pocket and pulled out a watch. As he opened it he asked, ‘Is there tea?’
‘Do I live here?’
Remus grinned again. ‘True.’ He stood and offered a hand. Sirius took hold and let him pull him up. As they entered the house, rather than letting go, Remus laced their fingers together and squeezed.
Sirius grinned and squeezed back. ‘Want some breakfast to go with?
